The gifts I gave
my children -
magic treasures of my day!
And each child smiled
and kindly threw each gift away.
While mystified,
I sighed
and thought it passing strange.
Until
resigned in puzzlement
and cleaning house one day
I looked into their heart of hearts:
It was the wrapping they had tossed aside
but the Love inside
they’d saved.
